     Searching scripture for the Greek term “miseo” (Strong’s Greek 3404) produced two instances in which The Christ is recorded to state that He hates a thing. Those two instances are Revelation chapter two at verse 06 and at verse 15. The thing that The Christ is recorded to despise is the work of the Nicolaitans. The Nicolaitans are recorded as having taught compromise with the world system, including at the least, materialism and tolerance of immorality.

     The Nicolaitans developed among the Christian congregation at Ephesus, which is historically understood to have been one of several principal congregations planted by the Apostle Paul. A deacon who is known as Nicolas of Antioch has been suggested to have been among the founders of the congregation at Ephesus and as primary influencer toward compromising of faith in the teaching of The Christ Jesus with with tolerance of secular desires.
